Lake of the Ozarks

Road tripping to the Lake of the Ozarks which is only a few short hours from our home, typically I am the one who wants to stop first on every trip but this time Eric wanted to! He wanted to go Eat at Dads Junction Cafe  which is in New Florence MO.

Before we got there Eric was talking about the Pork Tenderloin that they are famous for, nothing could prepare me for what I saw next…

Bread, Roast Beef, Fries and Cheese sauce….no pretty way to eat this!!

When we made it to the Ozarks it was somewhat gloomy, raining off and on but I must say any spot surrounding the lake has a beautiful view!

One of my favorite places we visited that weekend was Ha Ha Tonka State park- NO, I am not laughing it is actually called “Ha Ha Tonka State Park” http://mostateparks.com/park/ha-ha-tonka-state-park

I will be ok if I never see anything like this again in my life 🙂

As if the beautiful scenery isn’t enough Ha Ha Tonka State park has stone ruins of a mansion that began being built in 1905, it is known as the “castle” because  it was modeled after later European castles from the 1500s.

Eric is pointing out the "castle" where we were hiking to.

Another VERY neat place we went is known as the Bridal Cave! There have been over 2128 couples from around the world who have exchanged their vows in the cave! The gift shop displays photos of each couple, it was awesome to go back in time and be able to see some of the older pics!

Chinese New Year

Sometimes you get that travel itch but the timing is off! Why not create a travel experience from home? make it as basic or detailed as you would like! I think this is a GREAT idea especially if you have kids ad want to teach them about different cultures, traditions or travel around the world.

For New Years Eve 2012 we wanted to do something super mellow since it’s right after Christmas where we travel to and from Cincinnati so before we went out for the night we tried something a little bit different…..our version of the Chinese New Year!

The evenings new traditions started with a Chinese wishing lantern….

We wrote our Wishes for 2013 on the lantern

This is officially a new tradition in our house and I think we may get more and more detailed as the years go! Maybe I can convince Eric to wear a Kimono ha ha
