Punta Cana Views

We took so many pictures in Punta Cana that I have to separate these into different posts! This post is dedicated simply to the views!

HANDS DOWN Punta Cana was the single most beautiful location I have ever personally experienced (I haven’t been everywhere yet but even my imagination can’t come up with a more gorgeous scene) the water is a turquoise teal with rich shades of sea weed green scattered in spots, the sand is as fine as powder or flour and then closer to the shore turns to the feel of memory foam.

The temperature was like clock work heating up and maintaining the heat with soft breezes from 8 am through 5 pm then as the sun goes down it was important to have pants and even some nights a sweater!

A little side story- I was recently reading in a book about how in every situation you should rise above and see the BIGGER picture (in turn it makes problems and obstacles seem so small) and the example given in the book is how when you rise above in an airplane and see the big picture suddenly there is beautiful pattern and consistency with the world vs. some of the chaos you might see when you are down there in it……it really is true isn’t it?? Can’t think of a better example than flying above and looking out of the tiny window!

The view from every angle is pure beauty!

That is my husband swimming to the drinks! It took us a few days to find that perfect frozen cocktail but once we did we caught up on the missed days! I know this had rum in it, and I know each one had one full banana but not sure one the rest. It tasted like a strawberry starburst in frozen drink form!

I thought our views were great but this man may have the best views there are. It was amazing to see him climb this palm tree, inch by inch with a rope and some serious body strength.

I hope you enjoyed these pics! I’m going to write a few more posts about Punta Cana and our trip including an awesome excursion that taught me quite a bit!

Haunting Locations: Morse Mill Hotel

morse mill hotel 015

Our second paranormal tour was of The Morse Mills Hotel in Jefferson County, MO our best friends invited us to go with them so we jumped on the chance!

A little background on the history of the property:

  • Originally built in 1816.
  • Jesse James and his brothers stayed there.
  • Bertha Gifford lived there and she was known as the first female serial killer in the nation. She killed over 20 kids as well as adults with arsenic chocolates.
  • Al Capone used it at a meeting place and for gambling.
  • Charlie Chaplain stayed there a woman even has documents of him being marked on the register
  •  The house has been a residential home, brothel ,half way house, Confederate Hospital, Underground Railroad, Indian Burial Site, Post Office, multiple murder scene spanning decades, hanging scene and several known murderers have visited and stayed here.

Stone Wall was built by freed Slaves, hand carved.

Before the tour we went around the property and that to me was eerie enough, it is secluded on a gravel road and covered by trees, we all said it looks EXACTLY how you picture the scenery of a scary movie.

Once we got inside we were surprised at how unfinished the property was, There weren’t walls, some areas didn’t have floor boards, it all added to the “charm” that the house does NOT have!

So after the whole group of around 12 people showed up we were all asked to sign waivers (ugh) and we were given EMF detectors to share. An EMF detector is used to measure electromagnetic fields and it’s the most common tool you see people use during paranormal investigations.

The story I think we all LOVED the most is about a young girl named Annabelle who is described as a 12 year old friendly ghost who likes to play in the attic. She is so well known that guests have even left her toys as gifts which have also been reported to move around the house unexplained!

The tape on the floor is to mark where the toys are to see if they move.

Luckily the toys did not move while we were there but a few people picked up strong readings on their EMF detectors near the toys!

Brave vs. Terrified. love all the orbs though!

We left annabell a jolly rancher but considering the history of the place (Bertha Gifford lived there and she was known as the first female serial killer in the nation. She killed over 20 kids as well as adults with arsenic chocolates.) she may not have trusted taking candy from strangers!!!

Never a dull moment with these two!

Eric and Jon got the strongest EMF measures in the closet! They let us shut them in there for 30 seconds!!

Last but not least we went the the basement known as the “dungeon” area where shadows of  a pre-Civil War slave have been reported as well as the rattling of these chains showing the house still has evidence of shackles.

Happy to be out!

Happy to be out!

We didn’t experience anything too crazy while we were there it seemed very much like an average old gutted home but the tour guide told us there are opportunities to rent the house for a night….no thanks 🙂 The plan for this property is to eventually be restored and become a usable hotel again. Below you can see a few more pics from the night!
